Looking for a Little High Tech in Your Advertising?

by Brad Hieneman

With the advent of smart phones, more specifically the Android, Apple has developed a QRC or Quick Reference Code to help customers reach your web site. A QRC looks like a square fingerprint but has a hidden code that will allow a smart phone to take a picture of the QRC which will in turn take it to your web site (whether it's your company site, Facebook page, etc.)

So how do you get a QRC for your web site? Most sites will offer this service for free. I've included one of the more popular sites which you can go to by clicking here. - http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CTi/072019f661/TEST/f4c970ce0d
Once at the site, you can enter your web site's address and the QRC will automatically be generated for you in a .png file format. You can then download the picture and use it for advertising purposes.

How do you use a QRC? Most companies use the QRC as a quick reference on their advertising materials. This may be print ads, mailers, etc. One of the more unique ways I've seen the code use for is in a Dealer's trailer lettering. The Dealer included his QRC on the back end and sides of his trailer. This way, if a prospective customer was following or next to him at a light, they simply snap a picture of the QRC on his trailer and are transported to his web site.

While QRC's may be a fad, they are having a certain level of acceptance recently and may be something to consider including in your advertising.
